PJ Farm is an herbal farming partnership run by the wife and husband team of Pat and Jeff Scrimsher located near the Desoto National Forest in Saucier, Mississippi. We grow 10 acres of diverse seasonal roots and herbs year round which we use to make a variety of herbal products. We sell from our farm, at festivals and online. In addition to our herbs, we grow and sell a variety of starter plants prior to spring and fall planting. The farm is also home to several beehives where we collect honey and beeswax. Pat, a certified herbalist, produces herbal products such as tinctures, soaps, lip balms, and salves using most ingredients that were grown right here on the farm.
We have been growers together since 2007. A successful venture operating a small-scale nursery in our Gulfport, MS backyard inspired us to purchase our Saucier farm in 2010. Since the beginning of PJ Farm, the decision to utilize only organic farming methods to yield the highest-quality vegetables and herbs possible is one we firmly believe in. We obtained our organic certification from the USDA that same year. Our farm held USDA organic certification from 2010 until 2021 when the paperwork requirements became too time consuming. We now enjoy spending more time outside in the nursery and gardens. Unfortunately we can no longer describe what we grow as "organic", but we continue to use growing methods that are defined by the NOP.
Our mission is simple:
Grow naturally, the way Mother Nature intended. We believe that what we grow should be as good for you as it is for us. We strive to cultivate delicious, nourishing, and beneficial roots and herbs through the use of environmentally responsible techniques and practices. We do not use any synthetic product in our gardens, greenhouse or on our produce. That means NO pesticides, NO herbicides, NO fungicides and NO petrochemical fertilizers.
PJ Farm grows roots & herbs year-round. With our mild winters something is always being planted or harvested on the farm. In the spring we cultivate herbs and starter plants. Elephant garlic is usually ready to harvest in early summer. Also during the summer season, we harvest fresh cut herbs to be dried into delicious herbal tea. Ginger, turmeric, and galangal comprise our fall and winter harvest.
We are experts at shipping plants throughout the United States. Our herbs and garden transplants are grown in our greenhouse on our small farm in Saucier, MS. We start 100's of plants each year to sell at various herb festivals throughout our region. These plants are healthy and guaranteed to arrive safely. You will receive a well-rooted plant in a 3-1/2" pot. We use only organic potting medium. Our live plants are available in our Etsy shop.
